SEC Morwell hub celebrates one year with free community barbecue

27 October 2026

SEC is inviting the Latrobe Valley community to celebrate the first anniversary of its Morwell hub, with a free barbecue and open day on Friday 30 October.

Running from 10am to 2pm at 248 Commercial Road, the celebration will provide an opportunity for local residents to enjoy a sausage from the Churchill Lions Club, meet the SEC team and explore the hub.

Whether visiting for the first time or returning for another look, community members can discover the hub’s interactive displays and learn more about how SEC is supporting Victoria’s energy transition.

The anniversary also marks the launch of Bill Check Fridays, giving locals another reason to keep coming through the doors, with free, personalised support to better understand their energy bills and explore ways to reduce costs.

SEC's Executive General Manager, Brand and Corporate Affairs, Stuart Alllott said the anniversary was an opportunity to celebrate the hub’s connection with the community and encourage more people to make use of the space.

“We opened the Morwell hub to give the community a welcoming place to connect and learn about SEC’s growing presence in the region and explore what the energy transition means for their homes and future,” Mr Allott said.

Located on the site of the former SEC Credit Union, hub visitors can explore historical displays alongside demonstrations of renewable energy, battery storage and electric appliances.

Through Bill Check Fridays, residents are encouraged to bring along their electricity bill to start a conversation about practical steps that could help lower their household energy costs.

"We want people to keep coming back and see the hub as a useful local resource. The hub also presents an opportunity for the community to learn more about our exciting projects under development in the region - the Delburn Wind Farm and SEC EnergyWorks,” Mr Allott said.

The anniversary open day will be held on Friday 30 October, from 10am to 2pm, at the SEC Morwell hub, 248 Commercial Road, Morwell.
