Victoria’s energy transition is on. The SEC is here to help accelerate the transition.
Our history
The original State Electricity Commission of Victoria started in 1918 to tap the vast brown coal reserves of the Latrobe Valley for electricity generation, freeing Victoria from its reliance on imported fuel.
The new SEC will free Victoria from its reliance on emissions-intensive coal, accelerating delivery of affordable, reliable, renewable energy.
We acknowledge and respect Victorian Traditional Owners as the original custodians of Victoria’s land and waters, their unique ability to care for Country and their deep spiritual connection to it.
We honour Elders past and present whose knowledge and wisdom has ensured the continuation of culture and traditional practices.
We are committed to genuinely partner, and meaningfully engage, with Victoria’s Traditional Owners and Aboriginal communities to support the protection of Country, the maintenance of spiritual and cultural practices and their broader aspirations in the 21st century and beyond.
The SEC is committed to partnering with Victorian Traditional Owners and Victoria’s Aboriginal community to progress their aspirations.
