Specialized Solar & Electrical partners with the SEC to power Victoria’s electric future

30 June 2025

Family-owned Victorian business Specialized Solar & Electrical launched in 2000 with the dream of empowering households and businesses to transition to a more efficient all-electric future.

Based in Melbourne, the company has since grown to include six offices across regional Victoria and New South Wales, serving thousands of homes with solar panels, battery storage, heat pump hot water systems, electric heating and cooling, and EV charging. Specialized Solar & Electrical is one of the first installer businesses to gain SEC endorsement.

“Being endorsed by the SEC is a meaningful milestone for us. It represents the industry’s highest standards and reflects our unwavering commitment to quality, integrity, and putting Victorian households at the centre of the energy transition,” said Managing Director Anthony Igmen.

At the heart of Specialized Solar & Electrical’s work is a clear mission: to create living and working spaces that are more energy efficient, more comfortable, and more affordable to run.

Anthony Igmen“Most importantly, we want to do our bit to make our planet a cleaner, greener place for future generations to enjoy,” Mr Igmen said.

Victorians are increasingly looking for trusted advice and support to reduce energy bills, cut emissions and electrify their homes—but navigating rebates, upgrades and choosing the right installer can be overwhelming. That’s why the SEC is working with a growing network of endorsed, experienced installers like Specialized Solar & Electrical to provide a streamlined, reliable and trusted experience which consumers have told us is a valuable part of the experience.

As part of its pilot programs in areas including Ballan, the City of Casey, Merri-bek, Maroondah and Yarra Ranges, the SEC has already connected households with endorsed installers to upgrade to electric appliances, giving people the chance to compare indicative costs, learn about available rebates and get a personalised quote—all in one place. These pilots are the first step towards a full-service one-stop shop platform, which will help households make informed, supported choices about switching from gas to electric, backed by SEC-endorsed providers.

Specialized Solar & Electrical was selected as an endorsed installer based on its strong track record and high standards in customer service, compliance and delivery. Mr Igmen said the partnership is a natural fit.

“The SEC brings a level of trust, visibility, and purpose that empowers local businesses like ours to drive real, lasting impact in the electrification space. The partnership has enabled us to serve households with greater clarity and purpose, backed by the credibility that only a publicly owned body like the SEC can offer,” he said.

SEC CEO Chris Miller said that selecting and endorsing high-quality installers is critical to building public trust and helping more Victorians take action.

“Victorians can trust that SEC-endorsed installers will deliver a positive experience, providing simple, trusted advice about available services and technologies that best suit individual household and lifestyle needs,” Mr Miller said.

More than 13,000 people have already accessed the SEC’s electric home planner—an online tool that creates a personalised electrification roadmap based on household information.

With the SEC’s expression of interest process now open for more installer businesses to join its endorsed network, businesses like Specialized Solar & Electrical are already demonstrating what’s possible when industry and government work together to put households first.
