Walking alongside First Peoples

At SEC, our commitment to First Peoples is grounded in self-determination, deep listening, truth-telling and respect for cultural authority. We recognise First Peoples’ unbroken connection to Country and their rights as decision makers whose knowledge and leadership must shape the renewable energy transition.

Guided by the First Peoples Relationship Principles, co‑developed with the First Peoples’ Assembly of Victoria and several Traditional Owner Corporations, we build relationships that are relational, not transactional. Our partnerships reflect the governance structures, cultural protocols and aspirations of each rightsholder.

Through long‑term partnerships, co‑designed benefit sharing, First Peoples informed governance and a commitment to building cultural capability, we work to embed First Peoples’ self-determination principles across our organisation to create enduring opportunities for generations to come.

SEC’s First Peoples Self‑Determination Strategy sets out how we embed these commitments across our business. We know this work requires humility and accountability, and we are committed to walking alongside First Peoples to shape a renewable energy future together.

Leading with purpose: Putting First Peoples at the centre of Victoria’s energy future
