SEC supporting regional households go all electric

06 October 2025

It’s close to a year since SEC began piloting innovative solutions in communities across the state to support Victorians to electrify their homes and save on their energy bills.

Power up to electric

SEC has been helping a number of regional communities switch to electric by providing practical resources and on the ground advice.

SEC Executive General Manager, Consumer and Innovation Sumone Chakravarti said SEC was committed to making the transition as straightforward as possible for households.

“We know that the process of going electric can be complex and overwhelming. SEC is here to help people navigate the process so they can cut their energy bills and emissions.”

SEC will help people learn more about switching their home to electric during a free online information session on 21 October.

SEC will also be attending community-group meetings and presenting at local events to share advice face-to-face and answer questions, including:

12 October – 11am to 3pm: Electrify Marong at Marong Primary School

14 October – 6pm to 9pm: Bendigo “Faster and Fairer” Tour with Dr Saul Griffith at Quality Hotel Lakeside, Bendigo

SEC is also helping households in Ballan, Latrobe City and Yarra Ranges save on their energy bills through a pilot program supporting the switch to heat pump hot water. Using an SEC online tool, households can explore options, check Victorian government rebates, and connect with an SEC-endorsed installer for an obligation-free quote and advice.

“By being present in communities and providing simple, clear online tools, we’re making sure people have access to the support they need. People will decide what’s best for their household and our goal is to ensure people feel confident, informed and empowered,” Ms Chakravarti said.

Households can access SEC's website to find out more about switching to electric appliances, including what appliances to consider, what rebates are available and how to make a plan that works for them. Visit SEC - Households
