SEC helps Latrobe City households save on energy bills
04 September 2025
Latrobe City households will be supported to reduce their energy bills by upgrading to efficient electric heat pump hot water systems as part of an expanded SEC pilot.
The expanded pilot means residents in Latrobe City can learn about how heat pump hot water systems work, compare products and indicative prices, and have the option to connect to an SEC-endorsed installer for a personalised quote.
Water heating accounts for around 20% of household energy, and households can save up to $330 a year on energy bills by upgrading to a heat pump. For households with solar, the savings are even greater - you can heat your hot water for free by setting your heat pump hot water system to heat water when the sun generates the most energy.
SEC has partnered with endorsed installers Adsolar & Electrical, Specialized Solar and Electrical, and Solargain to make it simpler for Latrobe City residents to access expert installation.
SEC CEO Chris Miller said the pilot was a practical way for SEC to help households take control of their energy bills.
“Through its expanded pilot, SEC is providing Latrobe City households with trusted, simple information, products and services to help them make the switch to hot water systems and save on their energy bills.”
Adsolar & Electrical Managing Director Adam Robertson said they were pleased to be partnering with SEC.
“Working with SEC helps us provide our customers in the region with a simple, personalised approach that ensures they choose the right heat pump hot water system for their home and have it installed to a high standard.”
SEC is currently running an ‘expressions of interest’ process inviting installer and trade businesses with expertise in home electrification to become SEC-endorsed providers. Local and regional businesses across Victoria, including in Latrobe Valley, are encouraged to apply so that further installers Victoria-wide can come on board in the future.
Building a network of installer and trade businesses is part of SEC’s simplified, ‘one-stop-shop’ approach to support households in making the switch to electric for their heating, hot water and cooking.
