Renewable investment leader Simon Corbell to chair SEC board

The Victorian Government has announced the appointment of our independent board of directors, chaired by renewable energy industry leader Simon Corbell.

Simon Corbell

Simon brings substantial experience in renewable energy investment, policy and regulation, most recently as Board Chair and Chief Executive Officer of the Clean Energy Investor Group, where he has worked since September 2020.

He leads a board of directors including Joycelyn Morton, Anna Skarbek, Jo Benvenuti and Damien Barnes, who bring a wealth of experience in energy, finance, asset management and investment to our company.

In announcing the appointments, the Minister for the State Electricity Commission, Lily D’Ambrosio, said “Simon Corbell and the new board directors have exceptional credentials in their fields and will lead the revived SEC as it accelerates our energy transition and drives down energy bills for Victorians.”

The board will oversee our work as a government-owned energy company, as we invest to accelerate the energy transition, support the switch to all-electric households, and help build a renewable energy workforce.

“To serve as SEC chair is a significant opportunity to help Victorians realise the benefits of the shift to a renewable energy future,” Mr Corbell said.

“The original SEC was a trusted and iconic institution for Victorians. I am honoured to be guiding the new SEC.  I look forward to working with the board and management team colleagues, government, the community and private investors to accelerate the energy transition and help Victoria achieve its nation leading climate and energy targets.”
