Going electric at home is now ‘easy as’ with SEC
25 May 2026
SEC has today launched Easy Electric SEC, a new one-stop-shop designed to help Victorian households switch from gas to electric appliances and save around $2,000 a year on energy bills.
The digital platform is free to use for all Victorians and gives households clear, personalised information to understand their energy use and potential savings. Users can explore electric upgrades, including potential rebates and discounts, get tailored, obligation-free quotes, and find local SEC-endorsed installers to supply and complete their upgrades.
SEC’s specialist support team is also on hand to provide free personalised guidance to help Victorians electrify their homes with confidence, at a pace and budget that suits them.
Switching key appliances like heating, hot water and cooking from gas to efficient electric alternatives can save Victorians up to $1,900 each year on their home energy bills – or up to $2,230 a year with rooftop solar. That’s more money for families and everyday essentials.
Michelle Ziino upgraded her Coburg home after participating in an SEC-run pilot to test the one-stop-shop experience.
Supported by Specialized Solar, one of the first installer businesses to join SEC’s state-wide network, the mother of two is now reaping rewards with savings of more than $3,000 expected on her energy bills each year.
“Seeing our bills drop so significantly has been a big win, but it’s also the day-to-day comfort and knowing we’re running mostly on our own solar that’s made the biggest difference.
“We’ll soon be upgrading one of our vehicles to an electric vehicle and the savings on energy and fuel will help us put money towards a family holiday to the United States next year,” said Michelle.
SEC’s Chief Executive Officer, Chris Miller, said Easy Electric SEC allows Victorians to move at their own pace, choose the upgrades that suit their budget, and connect directly with trusted installers for obligation-free quotes.
“Easy Electric SEC is built on data and insights we’ve gained from thousands of households across the state after almost two years running our pilots to understand the benefits and barriers to home electrification.
“Victorians want advice they can trust. Easy Electric SEC helps Victorians to cut through the complexity and electrify their homes with confidence,” said Mr Miller.
SEC-endorsed installers have experience and expertise in this type of household electrical work and are accredited and licensed to deliver relevant appliances, such as hot water, heating and cooling, cooking, solar, batteries and EV chargers. They are also authorised under government rebate and incentive programs.
