SEC Renewable Energy Park - Horsham

The SEC Renewable Energy Park is a 100% publicly owned utility-scale renewable energy project in Victoria’s west, near Horsham.

SEC is working with developer, OX2, to build the energy park in two stages, starting with a 119-megawatt solar farm comprising more than 212,000 PV solar panels.

SEC’s $370 million investment allowed work on the solar farm to begin immediately while supporting the addition of a 100-megawatt two-hour battery storage system, making it one of Australia’s first integrated solar and BESS projects with a single connection point.

Once operational in 2027, the facility will be capable of generating around 242,000 megawatt hours of renewable energy a year - enough renewable energy to power around 51,000 homes.

The region will benefit from local employment and supplier opportunities, a community benefit sharing fund and, best practice engagement with First Peoples.

The project will create around 246 jobs over the construction period, including 20 roles for apprentices, trainees, and cadets.

If you would like to speak with a member of the team, please call 1300 305 700 between the hours of 9.00am - 5.00pm, Monday to Friday, or at any time via email at info.SEC@secvictoria.com.au.

Community Benefit Fund

The SEC Renewable Energy Park – Horsham Community Benefit Fund has now closed.

An assessment committee made up of local representatives will review and score all applications, with grant recipients expected to be announced by mid-October.

From 2027, operational phase funding will invest $3 million, or $100,000 annually (indexed), over the project’s lifetime to support community-led initiatives and positive long-term outcomes for the region.

We look forward to sharing the details about future funding when details become available.

In mid-2025, SEC  invited the Horsham community to provide input into how the Community Benefit Fund for the SEC Renewable Energy Park should be designed and invested to best support local projects and priorities.

The feedback is detailed in the  Community Benefit Fund Consultation Report which summarises feedback from more than 100 people who attended in-person and online information sessions and completed surveys via the Engage Victoria consultation hub.
